Suro nnipa na gyae saman (Be scared of humans instead of ghosts)

My grandma, after being in the states for nine good years arrived in Ghana on Wednesday. This is the one trip that she had been looking forward to ever since she got here. She missed Ghana so much that sometimes she would sit in her room and cry. But by the Grace of God, she arrived in Ghana safely on wednesday. Andy and I were driving home from scheels just a few minutes ago, and I saw my phone buzzing. It was my mom. I answered and asked her what was up? I wondered why she was calling because I had seen her earlier today at church. She then broke the news to me. My grandma had been robbed. $4,000 gone. Can you believe that?! FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS! I was in shock. The poor woman has not been in Ghana for a whole week yet and she has already been robbed! I was speechless. No words could come out of my mouth. I asked my mom how that happened and she explained to me that grandma had gone out to visit a couple of her family members and when she got home, the door to her bedroom had been opened and her purse wasn't in the right place. She rushed to look in her purse, and guess what? the money was GONE! She knew right away who took it. It was the people that were living in her house while she was here in the States. They are the only people with keys to the house and her door was not broken. Well, they reported the incident to the police, but the suspects keep denying that they took the money. Grandma can't stop crying. My uncle and his wife asked her to come stay in their house for the mean time because she is going crazy. I really hope they find that money. What a sad day. *sighs* This is why I say, "suro nnipa na gyae saman." Please keep my grandma in your prayers.

  4. @Shereen, taking the money to the bank is such a great idea! I was beginning to worry about how I'm gonna keep my money safe when we get to Ghana in January.

@maame, I totally agree with you. Gramps shouldn't trust anyone and should have stuck the money in her bra. lol but I also like the idea of sticking the money in your socks. No one ever looks in socks. :)
